Hot 'n' happening, kya scene hai!
Sharon Stone's crossed legs in Basic Instinct may have made the scene the "most paused moment" in Britain, but the Indian film industry has its own memorable moments. This isn't about thought provoking cinema. It's about scenes that make you go weak in the knees! A recent survey discovered that the scene which shows Sharon Stone sitting crossed-legged in the film Basic Instinct happens to be one of Britain's most paused moments. Well, Stone still manages to pull crowds by the sheer length of her legs, but that doesn't mean apna Bollywood has any dearth of hotties? KT finds out Bollywood's own scene sizzlers. According to actor Gulshan Grover the scene from Basic Instinct had sexual connotations and the only similar scene from India has got to be Bipasha Basu emerging from the sea in Jism. "The scene where Bipasha comes out of the sea was really hot. It is similar to what Ursula Andress did in Dr No," he shares. Pose the question before producer Mukesh Bhatt and he can think of nothing but Murder! Oops, we mean a scene from Murder and self-admiration has nothing to do with it. "One might think I am praising myself, but the scene from Murder when Emran sees Mallika for the first time is undoubtedly very hot. Filmmakers usually go overboard while screening such scenes, but this one was different " says Bhatt.
For actor Raza Murad nothing can compare with the pristine romance of Salim and Anarkali. So his hot favourite is a scene from Mughal-e-Azam where the lovelorn couple is sitting under a tree. "There is an undefined uniqueness in this scene. The beautiful backdrop, Tansen's voice in the background , the way Salim teases Anarkali with a feather - the expressions on Dilipji and Madhubala's faces - all contributed into making this scene sensuous," opines Murad.
Actor Ashmit Patel on the other hand recollects a song from Qurbani: "There is this song Hum tumhe chahte hain aise from Qurbani, which I find extremely sensuous. The chemistry between Vinod Khanna and the gorgeous Zeeni (Zeenat Aman) and the ambience make for a beautiful and intense moment," he says. Another song which manages to be sensuous without being sleazy is Pyar hua... from the film Shri 420, according to f i l m m a ke r Anurag Basu. "The song, expresses love beautifully . It is intense but aesthetic and Nargis looks beautiful in that drenched sari," remarks Basu. But actor Preeti Jhangiani feels that there's a lot that goes into making a scene remarkable: "Many other things - not just the way a scene has been shot - contribute into making it worth remembering. One scene that I think meets the benchmarks is the one from Aitraaz where Priyanka Chopra calls over Akshay Kumar to her place and sits near him with her legs crossed, trying to seduce him." For acting guru, Kishore Namit Kapoor, the scene from Awara in which Nargis Dutt appeared in a swimsuit "still remains a remarkable moment in the history of Indian cinema. It may not be known to the young viewers of today, but for the audience of the era in which the film was released , the scene was way beyond its time," says Kapoor.
